GPT-6 Brings Interactive Answers to ChatGPT
ChatGPT answers stopped being just text on October 7. [9to5Mac reports](https://9to5mac.com/2026/10/07/openai-brings-gpt-6-to-chatgpt-and-debuts-intelligent-ui) that OpenAI rolled out GPT-6 Sol to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers immediately, with GPT-6 Luna following for Free and Go users the next day, alongside a new feature OpenAI calls Intelligent UI. [OpenAI's own announcement](https://community.openai.com/t/announcing-gpt-6-sol-and-gpt-6-luna-in-the-api-codex-and-chatgpt/1399925) describes it as the ability to dynamically combine text, visuals, and interactive elements, graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts, based on the question and the content of the answer. A model upgrade is routine. A chat interface that decides on its own when to render a chart instead of a paragraph is not, and it changes what a business's content needs to look like to get used.
What actually shipped
GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are both described by OpenAI as tuned for everyday conversation, distinct from the GPT-6 Astra model OpenAI began rolling out in September to a limited cybersecurity-focused group. Sol reached ChatGPT's paid tiers on October 7, Luna reaches Free and Go users the following day. The headline change sitting on top of both is Intelligent UI: instead of ChatGPT always answering in plain paragraphs, it can now choose a side-by-side comparison layout, an interactive diagram, a generated calculator or form, or a chart, picking the format based on what the question and answer actually need. GPT-6 also supports progressive response generation, meaning ChatGPT can start displaying an answer while it is still reasoning through the rest of it, adding detail incrementally rather than all at once.
Why a formatting feature matters more than it sounds
This is easy to read as a cosmetic update, nicer-looking answers, and skip past. That misses the actual shift. Up to now, being found inside an AI chat answer meant being the source of a sentence or a bullet point, the same citation-first problem covered in the AI Overview branded-search shift. Intelligent UI means ChatGPT can now pull a business's numbers into a comparison table, a chart, or an interactive widget it builds on the fly, inside the conversation, without the user ever clicking through to a website. That is a step past being cited, it is having a business's data rendered and used directly inside someone else's interface.
Being quoted in an AI answer used to be the ceiling. Now the AI can pull a business's numbers straight into a chart or a tool it builds on the spot, no click required.
What's still unproven
Neither 9to5Mac's report nor OpenAI's own announcement includes any data yet on how often Intelligent UI actually triggers for business or product-comparison queries specifically, or how it decides which source's numbers to pull into a generated chart versus which it leaves out. That is a real gap, worth stating plainly rather than assuming marketing-relevant queries get the interactive treatment at the same rate as, say, a coding or math question. This is day one of the rollout, not a measured pattern yet.
What to check this week
Ask ChatGPT a comparison question in a business's actual category, pricing tiers, feature sets, whatever a prospect would realistically ask, and see whether it renders a table or chart, and whether the business's numbers are specific and current enough to make it into that rendering at all. Vague claims and un-dated figures are the easiest thing for a model to leave out of a generated comparison. The same discipline covered in the AI answer engine visibility audit and the B2B AI search readiness audit, specific numbers, dated facts, clearly structured claims, is what makes a business's data usable when an AI interface decides to build something with it instead of just describing it.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
What are GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna?
GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are the GPT-6 models OpenAI tuned for everyday ChatGPT conversation. Sol rolled out to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers on October 7, 2026, and Luna began rolling out to Free and Go users the following day, per OpenAI's announcement and 9to5Mac's reporting.
What is Intelligent UI in ChatGPT?
Intelligent UI is a new OpenAI capability that lets ChatGPT dynamically combine text, visuals, and interactive elements, graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts, based on the question asked and the content of the answer, instead of always responding in plain paragraph text.
How is Intelligent UI different from Google AI Overviews for marketers?
AI Overviews summarize and cite sources in text on a search results page. Intelligent UI goes a step further inside ChatGPT: the model can render a business's data directly into a generated chart, comparison table, or interactive widget inside the conversation, without the user clicking through to a source site at all.
What should a business check now that ChatGPT can generate charts and comparisons on the fly?
Ask ChatGPT a real comparison question in the business's own category and see whether its numbers, pricing, and claims are specific and current enough to be pulled into a generated table or chart. Vague or un-dated claims are the easiest thing for a model to leave out of that kind of rendering.
